History and Background

Hope Mission Home

OVERVIEW
The Hope Mission Children’s Welfare Home also known as Rumah Kebajikan Misi Harapan was incepted in December 2008 by a philanthropic citizen, Pastor Johnathan Muthal.

The Home was founded in order to help under-privileged children who are in need, regardless of neither race nor religion.

LOCATION
The Home is located at No.202, Lorong 7, Taman Impiana 2. Jalan Merbok, 36000 Teluk Intan, Perak Darul Ridzuan about 10 minutes drive from Teluk Intan township.

RESPONSIBILITY
We hope to provide the children with moral and religious education to enable them to grow up with responsibility and also with national spirit and also to execute activities to promote the home with the children actively involved with the public.

VOLUNTEER CONTRIBUTIONS
The Home acknowledges the enormous support extended to us by all our independent volunteers, who have generously donate their expertise, labor and time to our service. The work they do at the home contributes in various ways in ensuring a better life for the children.

FINANCIAL
Since the inception of the home, we managed the operational expenses through donations from generous heart of the public, funds raised from charity dinners and contributions by organizations. With limited facilities and funds available, we are managing the home economically.

We managed to obtain approval for financial aid from the Social Welfare Department in the year 2010. The expenditure estimated RM124K has increased for year 2010 as services have expanded.  This is offset by financial aid from the Social Welfare Department of Malaysia. The rest is collected through local public donations, sponsorships and charity dinners.  The Home therefore relies mostly on public donations to maintain and expand its services.

HISTORY

The name Hope Mission Home is to bring hope to helpless children.  It was thought, therefore, to be an appropriate name for the caring philanthropic citizen that the home was to be founded.

A suitable home was found and identified at No.202, Lorong 7, Taman Impiana 2. Jalan Merbok, 36000 Teluk Intan, Perak Darul Ridzuan.  With all legal formalities, registration with Registrar of Societies was approved and registered on 9th April 2009 with Registration No. 0620-09-PRK.

The Home started with 3 children from a separated family in 2008 and subsequently an addition of 12 children in 2009. In 2010, a total of 8 children were sent in by the Social Welfare Department of Perak which made it necessary for the home to rent the neighboring house to accommodate the addition. In February 2011, an addition of 1 child joined the home.

Since its establishment, the home consists of 15 children through the public and 9 children through the Government sector.

We are proud to say that since the inception of Hope Mission Home we have helped raise awareness of the wider community to the needs of under-privileged children.

OUR FUTURE
Hope Mission Home has many programs to be implemented, in stages, and in accordance with the availability of finance. Some of our immediate plans include-

  • A place of our own where the children called HOME.
  •  To provide a library with a study area and a computer room.
  •  To better equip the Home with a bigger cooking space for the storage of the provision.
  •  Provide a playground and an indoor gymnasium to facilitate a healthier lifestyle among the children.
  •  An additional van to transport the children to school and other activities.
  •  To create programs where the community and under-privileged children can mix freely
